Abstract
Our aim in this study is to investigate the evolution and non-evolution of the status of women in both Salafi and Shiite discourses. In this study, using the method of analysis of Lakla and Mufa discourse, we will show that although in the traditional Shiite discourse, like other traditional Islamic discourses, women had a lower status than men, but the Shiite discourse was able to Transform the situation of women and eliminate many inequalities between men and women. This Shiite discourse was able to gather and absorb many signs of modern discourse such as freedom, equality, the right to participate, etc. around the central sign of chastity, and thus redefine these signs accordingly. In the new Shiite discourse, women enjoyed many rights such as the right to freedom, participation, equality, etc., like men, and the meanings of these signs also changed. For example, freedom means freedom that is not in conflict with chastity. It would create a great change in the field of women, but the Salafi discourse could not achieve this due to its implications.
