Abstract
In today’s rapidly globalizing world, the need to understand and strengthen culture is more critical than ever. Sustainable cultural development requires a framework grounded in authenticity and the capacity for continuous progress. As one of the primary institutions shaping cultural development, the formal education system plays a decisive role in transmitting values and guiding societal growth. Given that educational systems rely on structured planning and predetermined curricula, policymakers must carefully select valid sources and approaches when formulating educational objectives. The Holy Qur’an, as a key source of spiritual and cultural guidance, provides essential principles relevant to this process.
Using a descriptive–analytical method and drawing upon Islamic sources, this study examines the contribution of formal education to cultural development. Findings indicate that the model of endogenous development, comprising cultural self-confidence, cultural purification, and informed engagement with other nations, is endorsed by Islamic teachings. This approach is vital for contemporary societal advancement, and formal education at all levels serves as a fundamental mechanism for institutionalizing these components.
