Today, with the prevalence and dominance of modern technologies in human lives, satellites and other similar media, having no educational and beneficent goals and often with amoral and useless programs, are exploited to homogenize public opinion of people around the world and eradicate communities’ constructive cultural characteristics and change advantageous religious trainings. In line with this idea, the main purpose of the present study is to examine how the use of satellite affects the relationship between the religiosity and life style of the university students of Ilam. The study has one main hypothesis and three additional hypotheses.
Descriptive research method, correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to investigate the hypotheses. Research population consisted of 6000 students of Ilam University from which 300 individuals were selected randomly. Research findings showed that the use of satellite moderates the relationship between the students’ religiosity and their life styles. In other words, the use of satellite acts as a strong moderating variable between the students’ religiosity and their life styles and affects the relationship between these two variables.
It is suggested that families and news media guide the young generation through all aspects of religiosity including religious knowledge, beliefs, and emotions, and carrying out religious tasks. The reasons behind abnormal styles and fashion propagandas of the satellite and their main purpose should be announced and their rival well-devised patterns should also be introduced.
