Recognizing and analyzing the mainstream thoughts is a crucial factor in better identification of the phenomena, the surrounding issues in the past and the present, and planning and managing the cultural, social, and political developments in the future. Hence, one of the objectives of the study of the mainstream thoughts can be defined as the elevation of the realm of policy making, especially the cultural policy making. From
this point of view, such a mainstream study should be linked with the identification of different views on mainstream thoughts regarding the relation between life and religion. In the present article, the sphere of the religious studies is considered as a battlefield of different thoughts about the issue of life and religion. Furthermore, the mainstream
thoughts of the contemporary Iran is defined and described in terms of three major factors: knowledge of the subjects, knowledge of the solution, and methodology. Then, in a brief review, the nature of the cultural policy making, the role of religious studies, and the related diversity of the thoughts are clarified in policy making
