Abstract

Rationale enjoys a great status in Islamic Philosophy as a central signifier. We explore the kind of rationale to AllamehTabatabaei that is a means of understanding other cultures. As our methodology, we take analytical-descriptive approach and refer to primary and secondary sources belonging to him. His development of virtuals, proposal of void area (mantiqat-ulfirāq) for the analysis of cultural issues, and its examination in order not to be subject to epistemological relativism all have some certain entailments. His theory prevents knowledge from epistemological errors by distinguishing real perception from virtual one; it also fills the gaps between Islamic philosophy and culture studies. The tie between virtuals and realities is the unique property of this theory, and Allameh’s explanation provides a fertile ground for the evolution of humanities based on Islamic Philosophy.
