Abstract

Since reason, as “the first creation of God,” is a means and proof for showing the way, and spirituality is the acquisition of a set of knowledge from realities beyond the material world, and justice is the observance of individuals’ rights and granting each person their due — Objective: This paper seeks to examine the role of the elements of rationality, spirituality, and justice in the religious society from the perspective of the Holy Quran. Research Question: From the perspective of the Quran, can the components of rationality, spirituality, and justice — through their interactive and influential relationship — provide the foundation for the flourishing of their outcomes toward the realization of a religious society characterized by ḥayāt ṭayyibah (good and pure life)? Method: The data collection method is library-based, and the research method is descriptive-analytical. Findings: This study, based on Islamic intellectual foundations, distinguishes between true rationality and mere instrumental rationality and materialism, true spirituality and false or pseudo-spiritualities, and divine justice versus contractual and utilitarian justice in the context of a religious society. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the depiction of a dynamic religious society from the viewpoint of the Holy Quran — with the presence of the three components of rationality, spirituality, and justice derived from the teachings of Islam — addresses a pressing human need today. The expansion of these elements in society creates a pathway for overcoming crises, which necessitates a return to the method of the Holy Quran.
